What a great trip! The first grade had a fine time on their field trip on Wednesday. For some it was their first trip to Pierre. The students had fun exploring the activities at the Discovery Center. There were so many things to try. New this year was the Vet Clinic. It was a favorite with many of the students. Be sure to ask your first grader what they liked best, if they haven’t told you already. After our time at the Discovery Center we walked to the park for our picnic lunch. We were lucky it didn’t rain while we were there. Then we boarded the bus for a trip around the Capital and the Governor’s House before we headed for home. Even though the bus ride got long, everyone agreed it was worth it for such a fun day. Our Freeman Davis first graders received compliments on their good behavior from the Discovery Center staff and our bus driver. Way to go first grade! :)
Don’t forget the Freeman Davis Track and Field Day is next Friday, May 15th at Tiger Stadium. Mr. Stenberg sent home information on an orange half-sheet of paper on Wednesday with all the details. The FD session should start about 12:30 and be finished by 2:45. The students will be bused back to school and you can pick up your student there. Please do not send drinks other than water with your child. Parents are encouraged to attend, but we need students sitting with their class to help the event run smoothly.
Some students still have books from the Freeman Davis Library. These need to be returned as soon as possible. Thursday Miss Moser sent home a picture note with the books that still have not been returned. Please return them as soon as possible.
The last day of school will be Wednesday, May 20th. Students will be dismissed at 1:00.
Happy Mother’s Day!
