It is so good to be back! ☺ Thanks to the subs that filled in while I was in the hospital with pneumonia. Thanks too for the kids for working hard and being well-behaved! The Valentine’s Party was fun, so I heard. Thanks to our party committee for the treats! Today we celebrated Ava’s seventh birthday. The class enjoyed the doughnuts she brought for treats.
The February book orders came home on Wednesday. The deadline to order books is Thursday, February 22nd. If you wish to order online, our classroom code is DVTV6.
I am sorry I missed conferences last Thursday. Here’s some of the information that would have been covered.
- Please keep reading for the reading logs. They are due at the end of the month.
- We will be making a community is Social Studies. Please have your child bring a box to school. It should be about the size of a shoebox. Please bring them to school by Tuesday, February 20th.
- A project that’s coming up this spring is the Plate Project. Students will be coloring a design or picture on the special paper I have. We will send them in and they will be make them into a melmac plastic plate. These can be washed in the dishwasher, but not be used in the microwave. This makes a nice keepsake of first grade. The cost of this project is $9.25 for each plate. We will be doing this in April. I will send more information later.
- We DO have school on Monday, February 19th, Presidents Day. We DO NOT have school next Friday, February 23rd.
If you would like to reschedule your conference, please let me know. Times that would be available are before school next week, Tuesday or Thursday after school, or during the class special classes 10:30 – 11:30. If you would like to do a phone conference, I can make that work too.
Until next time,
Mrs. Mack
